Born and raised in Shreveport, John Carmody, M.D. is a graduate of Loyola College Prep and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from Louisiana State University. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine and his residency in Ophthalmology at LSUHSC-Shreveport. Dr. Carmody went on to complete fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Keratorefractive Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Carmody is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, Shreveport Medical Society, and Louisiana State Medical Society.
Dr. Carmody practices comprehensive ophthalmology including routine eye examination, diabetic, glaucoma management, as well as his specialty in cataract, cornea and refractive (LASIK) surgery. His practice is dedicated to providing each patient individualized and compassionate care as well as the most up-to-date surgical therapeutic options available.
